To launch their unit on light and sound, first graders at Farmington STEAM Academy became "Wilderness Explorers" as they hiked through the backyard woods. After they make meaning (gather clues and make sense of what they saw and heard) and build knowledge, students began collaboration to design a rescue signal that utilizes light and sound!
